Money4Computers is a service provided by R D C Trading Ltd T/A RDC of Tekhnicon, Braintree, Essex CM7 2YN ("RDC").
Money4Computers provides Customers with an initial estimate of specific types of computer equipment based on information submitted by the Customer.
If the Customer wishes to proceed, they register with Money4Computers, label their equipment and place it in their nearest Bybox box. The equipment is then shipped to RDC for testing and audit.
RDC commits to erase or destroy all Customer data and provide you with an audit certificate of your equipment, along with a firm offer for the purchase of your equipment. For every item received, RDC commits to make a donation on your behalf into our charity pot which gets split between Digital Pipeline and In Kind Direct charity to help equip schools in Africa. RDC also commits to ensuring that no material from any faulty units goes to landfill.
By using Money4Computers, the Customer and RDC willingly enter into legally binding contract, as defined by the following Terms and Conditions:
RDC reserves the right to withdraw the Scheme at any time.

All transactions carried out through Money4Computers are the sole responsibility of RDC and the Customer.
The Customer must own the rights, title and interests of any laptops/PCs traded in, and must assume the following responsibilities in association with any laptops/PCs traded in:
- Laptops/PCs must not be counterfeit, stolen or fraudulent in any other way.
- The sale and shipment of laptops/PCs traded in must not violate any applicable laws, statutes or regulations, including export laws.
- The sale of laptops/PCs must not infringe upon any third party intellectual property rights.
By using Money4Computers, the Customer indemnifies RDC from all claims or losses sustained by RDC through a breach of any of the above.
The title of any equipment passes to RDC in one of three ways;
- RDC agrees to pay the initial estimate for the equipment given to the customer on the website.
- RDC makes a revised offer for the equipment following audit and the customer accepts the revised offer.
- The Customer has neither accepted nor rejected a revised offer within 7 days from the receipt of the revised offer.
In the case of iii) above RDC will assume title of any equipment and proceed with payment at the revised offer value.
Offers are non-transferrable, and are non-refundable once any payments have been issued.
Product Valuation
All initial offers are based on the information provided by the Customer through the website. RDC reserves the right to alter the valuation of equipment at any time. RDC also reserves the right to offer a zero value, which would include the free recycling of the equipment with nothing going to landfill. RDC would still make a donation to charity on behalf of the Customer.
Offers will expire if RDC has not received the laptops/PCs from the Customer within 28 days of the Customer accepting the offer.
Initial Estimate Criteria
The initial estimate is based solely on the information provided by the Customer through the Money4Computers website.
This information includes the following:
- Manufacturer
- Processor type
- Processor speed
- Memory size
- HDD size
- Media drives
- AC adaptor present and working
- Battery present and working
- BIOS passwords removed
- Condition
- Functionality
Condition and functionality are defined by the following grades:
- Good - can have some very minor cosmetic damage, such as limited light scratching or scuffs on the plastics, or limited light scratches or scuffs on the screen.
- Poor - if scratches and scuffs are major, or are light but all over the laptop/PCs, then we would class the laptop/PC as being in poor condition. Also, poor condition would constitute any broken plastics, cracks or dents, however small, and any missing plastics.
- Not functioning - a laptop/PC will be classified as not functioning if it will not power on to Windows, does not have a clear, working display, or does not have fully operational media drives, USB ports and wireless connections (if applicable).
The definitions above are merely guidelines provided by RDC to the Customer, and are subject to change at any time.
Offer Confirmation
RDC will test and audit all equipment within 10 days of receipt of them at RDC's premises.
All equipment will be processed by RDC using the Test, Audit and Data-Wipe process which has been developed for its corporate and government customers over the past 13 years. RDC will provide a copy of the data gathered in this process, along with a copy of the data originally provided by the Customer.
RDC will base any revision to the initial estimate on this audit data.
In the event that RDC does revise the initial estimate in the offer confirmation, the Customer can choose to either accept the revised offer or have the laptop/PC returned at no charge to the Customer.
Packaging and Shipping
The Customer is responsible for the accurate labelling of the product prior to placement in Bybox box. RDC will not be held liable for any damage in transit.
The Customer is also responsible for sending all associated peripherals and accessories, confirmed as present as part of the valuation criteria, including but not limited to AC adaptors, batteries and media drives.
Any missing or damaged peripherals or accessories, will reduce the initial estimate and result in a revised offer.
Data Security
RDC will remove data from all equipment, either using government approved data wiping software, or through physical destruction through shredding.
By shipping any equipment to RDC, the Customer agrees to indemnify RDC against all claims arising from the loss of data associated with the equipment.
Once the product is placed in a Bybox box, no data can be returned to the Customer. Should the Customer decline a confirmed offer and request the return of the equipment, RDC will return the equipment with either a blank hard drive, or no hard drive at all. In such an event the Customer accepts that there will be no compensation paid by RDC for the destroyed hard drive.
Payment
RDC will proceed with payment to the Customer within 10 days of one of the following:
- RDC confirm the initial estimate;
- The Customer confirms acceptance of a revised offer;
- The Customer has neither accepted nor declined a revised offer within 10 days of RDC submitting the revised offer.
